Historically wild life is separated from civilization. This separation is conducted
in various manners. It includes legal, social and moral sense. Major religions in
the world consider certain animals as sacred.
Not only animals some religious sect
considers plants as sacred. Concerns for wild life encroachment often spark numerous
protests around the world. Wild life must be protected for the betterment of humanity.
Human beings largely depend upon wild life, both plants and animals. Anthropologists
and social scientists believe that hunting for food begins at Stone Age. Many species
become extinct because of extensive hunting. Extinct species include both plants
and animals.
Hunting and fishing contribute major portions of economy in many part
of the world. Fishing and gathering wild life also continues even today. Some communities
in the world consider hunting and non commercial fishing as a sport or recreation;
they often consider edible meat as a side benefit. Meat gather from wild life which
are not traditionally considered as a game is known as bush meat. Asiatic communities
largely depend on wild life products. Especially East Asian nation consider sharks,
primates, pangolins and other animals have aphrodisiac effects. This leads to decimating
population of many wildlife animals. Illegal trade of wild life species poses great
threat to wildlife across the world. An incident happened in Malaysia is an example
for this. 900 plucked and “oven ready” owls and other protected wild life species
were captured by the department of wildlife and national parks in Malaysia according
to traffic. Those animals were heading towards china, to be sold in wild meat hotels.
Many of the confiscated animals were listed in cites (the convention on international
trade in endangered species of wild fauna and flora) which banes and restricts such
trade.
